Macha HIV Clinic:
HelpMercy funded 40% of the construction costs of Macha's only HIV Clinic. The clinic has recently been re-named to Dr. Alvan E. Thuma, House of Hope, in honor of the late Dr. Alvan E. Thuma, (the founder of Macha Mission Hospital).
The Antiretroviral Clinic is the center of three districts in Zambia, namely, Choma, Kalomo and Namwala. On average, the clinic attends to 80-100 patients a day, with an average of 15-20 patients enrolled daily to the clinic's care program. As of October 2009, the clinic had 5,200 recorded patients on the care program. In its ART program, the number of patients was at 2,196. (Please find some photos from the AR Clinic below) |
