The Mercy Ride- (Click here to check the building progress)

September 15th was a cold and rainy day, but we still had a good turnout of brave riders for the 5th annual Mercy Ride. I want to thank our major sponsors - The CycleLoft, Lester's BBQ, and Aunt Margaret's Homemade Cookies for helping to make this years ride a success. We raised about $5,000 for building the HIV/AIDS treatment center at Macha Hospital in Zambia. The completion of this building will help us to continue to expand our program to prevent transmission of HIV to babies during childbirth, to expand our treatment of kids with AIDS (we now treat about 200), to treat adults with AIDS (which allows them to continue to care for their children), and to make sure that no patients receiving treatment (we currently assist in the treatment of over 2000 patients) for HIV at Macha or anyone in their family goes hungry. Thanks to everyone who participated and special thanks to Peggy Barasso for all her efforts in planning and assisting in making this ride a success. Thanks also to Anthony at the CycleLoft and Doug of Lester's BBQ. Please join us next year for a bright and sunny ride to help out the children and families of Macha, Zambia.
