Lloyd B. Williams, MD, PhD, Founder and Chairman of HelpMercy

Lloyd is an ophthalmologist and Chief Medical Officer at Standard Optical Co. in Salt Lake City and a adjunct research assistant professor at Moran Eye Center. He founded HelpMercy while a medical student at Tufts University getting an MD, and PhD in neuroscience. He completed his ophthalmology training at Moran Eye Center and Cornea Fellowship at Johns Hopkins.

Geoffrey Tabin, MD, Advisor for Eye Hospital Development

Geoff Tabin is the co-founder of Himalayan Cataract Project (www.cureblindness.org) and is the Fairweather Foundation Professor of Ophthalmology at Stanford University. A renowned mountaineer as well, Geoff has possibly done more to end world blindness than any other individual alive today. He has been a part of building eye hospitals in Nepal, Ethiopia, Bhutan, and Kenya and is working with us in Sierra Leone.

Alan Crandall, MD, Board and Advisor for Eye Surgery

Alan Crandall, MD is a past president of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS) and a professor of ophthalmology at Moran Eye Center in Utah. Alan has worked tirelessly to cure blindness around the world and to train others to do the same having trained dozens of glaucoma fellows and hundreds of residents over his distinguished career.

David Paul, DMD

Dr. David Paul is a dentist and oral surgeon who has worked with HelpMercy over the last decade. He has worked with us in efforts to bring dentistry to Macha Mission Hospital.

Walter Hanssen, Board

Walter Hanssen lives in Alpine, UT and has an extensive background in real estate and venture capital. He has developed medical complexes in the past and is an integral person in our fundraising and building planning projects.

Roger Williams, Treasurer

Roger Williams is the former CEO of Evangel Press and Christian Light Bookstores and has experience working with missions in Papua New Guinea. Roger has been the treasurer of HelpMercy Since its inception in 2004.

Bryan Jones, PhD, Board

Bryan Jones is a research professor at Moran Eye Center who specializes in amazing research into the retinal connectome and the pathways of vision. Dr. Jones is a professional photographer and also helps manage the MoranCore ophthalmology teaching website and Webvision (a ophthalmic research web blog).

Kathy Prelack, PhD

Dr. Prelack has extensive expereince working with nutrition at the Shriner's Burn Hospital in Boston. She was integral in developing our nutrition programs for burned children at Macha Mission Hospital.
